Ever since the somber announcement during NEC18 that Team Ninja would no longer be continuing work towards Dead or Alive 5: Last Round, it was uncertain as to the fate of the franchise. The silent reaction from the crowd of players would convince anyone that what was truly happening was a funeral rather than the closing ceremonies for the Dead or Alive Battle Royal 2017 Grand Finals.
Well, just a few days ago, Team Ninja unveiled the trailer for their latest Dead or Alive installment. Quite frankly, the trailer looks very interesting and appears to have a new feature that zooms in on moves with heavy impact as well as the inclusion of a super meter. Dead or Alive has always had a reputation of being one of the best looking 3D fighters out there, and Dead or Alive 6 does not disappoint.
Developers from Team Ninja also went on to state that they’re taking a new direction towards the franchise by having less revealing costumes for the ladies, which has long been a tradition for the series. Certainly this is gathering very mixed opinions from gamers everywhere, but considering the team’s direction of the franchise with their previous installment, it seems to make sense. Back when Dead or Alive 5 initially released, the main slogan for the game was simply, “I’m a fighter.” A very short and simple phrase which conveyed that Team Ninja wanted their franchise to be taken more seriously.
At this time, Dead or Alive 6 is announced to be released early 2019 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Steam platforms.
